"Having a dog in your life or your family's life does not happen by accident. You meet a dog because you were meant to have them in your life. I'm writing this in memory of our beloved Gentle Troy who surely was a gift from heaven. It was October 2012 when we lost our first family dog, Jake, whom we adopted when we lived in the US, brought with us to Germany then to Singapore. He was almost 15 years when he passed away. We wished his return in many ways, and true enough...he did. A month after Jake left, I met Troy in a shelter called the SPCA in Singapore. The moment he snuggled and looked at me, I knew I had to bring him home so I called the family and without second thoughts, even our other dog, Jessie the golden retriever who was 3 years old agreed. That was the beginning of another lesson of what unconditional love is.
Troy was probably just turning 1 year old when I met him because he still had pink paws just slowly getting grayish. He was playful, curious, an observer, a fast learner and NEVER full. Anyone would think we're either starving him or he's just, as I said, NEVER full. My kids adored him and he loved them the moment he met them. He checked on them when they were playing, accompanied them when they're watching TV, brought them to the school bus when they leave and welcomed them home everyday as if there's no tomorrow. He was always thankful for anything you give him, his nonstop wagging tail proves that. He's a CARPE DIEM master — He knew how to live fully in the moment and enjoy it.
Every single day, every single moment with Troy was happy. I cannot think of a day were he hurt us, most of all, me. And though my heart feels the pinch as I write to remember life with our Troy because I miss him dearly, I'm so glad that he came to our lives and I was able to live with him and gave him everything he deserved in his doggie lifetime.
We love you Troy Francisco Schaffer, you were 14 years of PURE LOVE. Come visit or come back, you're welcome ANYTIME.
Regards,
Justice"
